Neighborhood Branch Library

Design concept / Civic

A civic interior made warm by timber and daylight.

This is a design concept, not a completed Dreamscapes project.

A library among the trees.

A concept for a timber-framed branch library with a tall reading room that looks out into the live oaks.

This study imagines a branch library that also works as a community room, study hall, and cool place to spend a summer afternoon.

Glulam columns and beams stay exposed throughout. A tall window wall frames a stand of mature oaks kept on the site.

A closer look

The exposed structure gives the reading room its scale and character. A generous window wall makes the trees outside part of the everyday interior.
